I had to post this...this is how the short conversation went with our daughter and my husband:
Cory: No, you need to get in the shower, you do not need a unicorn
Aurora: But I want her to watch me
Cory: No, and that's just weird

I just thought it was funny.

1.May: If I still lived in Utah this may not have been my number 1,its still snowing in Utah in May..sometimes... it's my birthday month and the weather here in May is still nice. There's not much humidity and the bugs aren't out in full force yet.
2.December: It just the love the feeling of Christmas, people are more giving and it's the month that we celebrate the birth of our Savior.
3.April: This is the month of the birth of my first born. We get to participate in General Conference and we celebrate the resurrection.
4.June: This is the month of the birth of my first son. Summer is just beginning and we get to start going to the pool!
5.October: This is the month of the birth of my youngest. We get to dress up for Halloween...this is one of my favorite holidays. I love to find costumes for my kids and we have our Pumpkin Carving party (we didn't get to have one last year because my son decided he wanted to come into the world:))
6. July: Cory's birthday! Yeah Cory!!!
7. August: School starts! If any of you have children you know what I mean.
8. February: I love valentines day. I don't necessarily like to go out on valentines day because there are just too many people but it's fun to celebrate with my love!
9. November: Yummy comfort food..what more can I say!
10. January: The start of a new year. A fresh start to make yourself better!
11. March: I'm Irish!
12. September: Does anything happen in this month?

My cute friend Terri got this hat from a friend of ours and wore it through the evening, that includes when she drove me home. She is too funny. For those of you that don't know Terri, she loves spiders, and I don't just mean she LOVES spiders, she knows everything about them...it's amazing to me because I just don't understand the love, but then again someone might find peanut butter and miracle whip a little strange. I love you Terri...thanks for a laugh!!

It's been awhile...

It's been awhile since I've posted anything, and I feel that my life is so crazy that I don't have time to post, yet so many things to say. First I must say, that I had a wonderful Holiday Season. We had a great Christmas, despite the fact that we are living on a student budget...in case many of you are wondering what that is...that usually means....no money. We had a fun new years with some friends and stayed up late to watch the ball drop. I am great full that my kids know how to sleep in!!
Since about Sept I feel like Cory and I have been on somewhat of a roller coaster ride. Cory and I have really struggled this semester with finances, again..the student thing. I have prayed every night that somehow we would make it through that month with enough to support our small family. The Lord has answered my prayers every time. My first answer came when Cory was offered a job at a small law firm here in Houston. It's not the best pay, but it's something to help pay the bills and to put on his resume. During the holidays our financial situation became increasingly tight because of finals and holidays and Cory not working very much. I think at one point I was down to $.75 in my account. Then someone asked if I would be willing to help decorate their house. It would pay, not very much, but something that might help buy Christmas presents for our kids. After showing up and helping with the decorating this person offered to pay me quite a bit more than previously offered. It was their Christmas gift to us...the Lord's second blessing. Another financial blessing, this one is kind of funny...at least to me. I needed to pay our credit card bill payment, and I think that there was about that in our savings. I went online to pay the bill and the amount due was $3!! YES..I thought to myself...I have that and then some!!I called Cory and said...you want to know what blessing we received today? He said very enthusiastically ..."NICE!!" I know that the next amount due will not be $3!
In October we were blessed with a wonderful small little boy we named Grant Pierce. Grant decided he needed to come here a little early, six weeks early. He had to be in the NICU for about two weeks to help him breath a little bit better. I prayed and prayed that my little boy would be okay and would soon be able to come home. I can't tell you how it felt to leave the hospital without that baby in my arms. It about killed me. Although I knew he was safe, leaving him there was like leaving a piece of me behind. I needed him, and I knew he needed me. On the third day after he was born, Cory and a friend of ours gave him a blessing right there in the NICU, I couldn't hear anything Cory said with the beeps and alarms going off around us, but I felt the Spirit. I knew that Heavenly Father was there with us, and was there to let us lean on him for help. Later that night his oxygen level was lowered and the next day he was completely off. I KNOW that the the Lord was there and answered our prayers. I KNOW that the power of the Priesthood is real. I truly believe that the blessing that was given was the reason Grant improved so much and so quickly!
On Friday Jan 2, I took Grant into the Dr. because he had a cough, and sure enough he had RSV. It made me sad and mad all at the same time. So sad that my son had to have a breathing treatment every four hours and coughing that shook his whole little 9lb body. I don't doubt it hurts him every time he coughs. And mad that his stupid insurance doesn't recognize him as a patient and the drug manufacturers for the RSV vaccine won't release the drug, so he can get the shot, until they do so! He is so strong and seems to be responding well to the treatments. I am grateful that he hasn't been to the hospital and continue to pray that he doesn't ever have to.
There are some other challenges that Cory and I have gone through recently together, but those are a little to personal to discuss. I do know that even though we have been on this roller coaster and with all of it's ups and downs and twists and turns the Lord has been there every step of the way. It has increased my testimony beyond comprehension. we are feeling truly blessed and are overwhelmed with how much our Father in Heaven has given us. We have such a wonderful family and are blessed to be surrounded by so much love and support. Although we have made it through so many challenges we are blessed with a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We know that we can share our burdens with him and that it will never be more than we can take on. His love surrounds us all, and because of Him our happiness is so great!
